What defines me

My GF did school drop off this morning, she hasn’t done this on her own with our little preppy as yet. This morning she’s met with one of the other prep mums who introduces herself and she says:
Β
β€˜π»π’Ύ π“‚π“Ž 𝓃𝒢𝓂𝑒 π’Ύπ“ˆ β€˜X’ 𝒢𝓃𝒹 𝐼’𝓂 (𝓉𝒽𝑒 π“Œπ’Ύπ’»π‘’ π‘œπ’» 𝒢 π“π‘œπ’Έπ’Άπ“ π’·π“Šπ“ˆπ’Ύπ“ƒπ‘’π“ˆπ“ˆ π‘œπ“Œπ“ƒπ‘’π“‡)'
Β
Now I’m not sure exactly the point of saying your name but following up with
Β
β€˜π“Œπ’½π’Άπ“‰ π’Ήπ‘’π’»π’Ύπ“ƒπ‘’π“ˆ 𝓂𝑒 π‘œπ“‡ π“‚π’Άπ“€π‘’π“ˆ 𝓂𝑒 π’Ύπ“‚π“…π‘œπ“‡π“‰π’Άπ“ƒπ“‰ π‘œπ“‡ 𝓇𝑒𝓁𝑒𝓋𝒢𝓃𝓉 π’Ύπ“ˆ 𝓉𝒽𝒢𝓉 𝐼’𝓂 π“ˆπ‘œπ“‚π‘’π’·π‘œπ’Ήπ“Žβ€™π“ˆ π“Œπ’Ύπ’»π‘’ 𝒢𝓃𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝒢𝓉 π“ˆπ‘œπ“‚π‘’π’·π‘œπ’Ήπ“Ž π‘œπ“Œπ“ƒπ“ˆ 𝒢 π’·π“Šπ“ˆπ’Ύπ“ƒπ‘’π“ˆπ“ˆβ€™.
Β
In my experience, I’m certainly not defined by being somebody’s wife! In the past I’ve had people introduce themselves and say:
Β
β€˜H𝒾 𝐼’𝓂 β€˜X’ & π“Žπ‘œπ“Šβ€™π“‡π‘’ (π“ˆπ‘œπ“‚π‘’π‘œπ“ƒπ‘’β€™π“ˆ) π“Œπ’Ύπ’»π‘’β€™
Β
I’ll tell you straight, I was Juanita long before I was anybody’s wife. I’m not sure what the currency is that people think they have because they are somebody’s wife or if it’s a small town thing or it’s a social-economic status or community standing.
A little background on this woman, she has a degree in some sort of science, she’s definitely her own well-pronounced person, and yet she still introduces herself as somebody’s wife.
Β
Do we have more confidence as a wife?
Do we feel more powerful being a wife?
Does being a wife give us more influence?
Or is it simply small town ego and pecking order!
Β
I’m certain that there are those in the community that would define me by my relationship.
