Body Image Issues

So I saw this post on Ellenny swim and it got me to thinking about the double standard with men rocking the 'dad bod' and women with body image issues.
Today at the town pool we went to a pool party, it was not one pool party but two. I’m comfortable in getting in the pool with swimmers on and today I’m wearing what I would call a ‘conservative one piece’, although, it has a high leg, it’s still in one piece. My girlfriend is wearing speedos which are also rather conservative. One of the other mums in the pool is wearing a rashie and there are two mums in the big pool that are wearing one pieces with shorts over the top.
I’m super comfortable in wearing a pair of bikinis or any swimsuit really, I wear a thong to the beach and it doesn’t bother me, however what do you wear to a child’s birthday party?
What did strike me as interesting was there was a couple of dads there who aren’t in the shape that they were in pre-children and yet they’re happy and comfortable to rock the dad bod. Whether this is a care factor thing, or men don’t feel fat shame or have the same body image issues as women, or are simply comfortable with how they look. Maybe they deal with it in other ways, I don’t know. However, with all the mums that were there, there’s only a handful of us in the pool, everyone else is fully dressed, not getting wet.
Back to the Ellenny swim post, I commented to her about the double standard. To which she responded back with something that hit me like a tonne of bricks

Now isn’t that horrifying!
